The 2021 Science and Technology Week is about to be held in Guangzhou from May 22 to May 28, featuring over 350 special activities to promote popular science and technology. Its opening ceremony will kick off at Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Center on May 22. Here are some of the highlights.

● Science Carnival in both online and offline forms
The online carnival has been underway since May 14 and will last until May 28, where you can view 100 national outstanding science popularization micro-videos selected in 2019 and 50 works highlighting the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. You can search the WeChat mini-program named "广州科普资源" (pinyin: guang zhou ke pu zi yuan) to enjoy these videos without having to leaving your home.
As for offline activities, several exhibitions will be held in the 101 Exhibition Hall of Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Center from May 22 to 23, to share the revolutionary stories of the CPC and China's rural revitalization. In addition, various science popularization lectures will also be staged at the Center.

● Science and Technology Day
On May 22, a total of 149 science popularization bases, colleges, universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises across 11 districts in the city will hold all kinds of science popularization events in the fields of Guangzhou embroidery, printing, cocoon DIY, drone operation, and more.
● Science Night
Science Night events on different themes will be carried out on the evening of May 23 at 23 science popularization bases, universities and institutions, including watching science popularization shows, observing the starry sky and challenging yourself to fly a drone.

● The 12th SELFtalks Greater Bay Area Forum
The 12th SELFtalks Greater Bay Area Forum is the highlight of the opening ceremony, inviting five experts from the fields of big data, life science, aerospace, rural architecture and Lingnan cultural heritage to make speeches. Moreover, this Forum will also be broadcasted online through major live-streaming platforms such as Baidu App and Bilibili, Chinese popular video-sharing site.
The 2021 Science and Technology Week in Guangzhou is co-sponsored by the city's science and technology bureau, education bureau, association for science and technology, and publicity department.
