Cultural events ready for holiday in Guangzhou

The flower city Guangzhou has prepared an array of cultural activities for residents to enjoy over the holiday. Here are some cultural events for you to enjoy during a wonderful eight-day holiday:

Palace lantern making

Get to know more about the lanterns and learn how to make a Cantonese rosewood palace lantern from master Luo Minxin, municipal inheritor of Cantonese rosewood palace lantern making technique.

Learn how to make a Daliang fish-lantern from master Pan Zhijiang, inheritor of Daliang fish-lantern making technique.

You will be able to find out the history and development of Xinhui fanpalms, making and learning how to make a fan out of Chinese fan palm from Liao Huilin, national inheritor of Xinhui fanpalm making technique.

Guangde ceramic painting

Get your hands on Guangde ceramic and paint your masterpiece under the instruction of Huang Zhichao, municipal inheritor of Guangde ceramic firing technique.

Foshan festive lion head making

Li Wanzhen, provincial inheritor of Foshan festive lion head making technique, will explain the history and features of Foshan festive lion head, she will also share her stories of exploring this technique, and teach you how to make a lifelike festive lion head.

Lantern exhibition

Have you seen cotton-like lanterns, bulbs that can bloom like a flower, fish lanterns with a swinging tail and lion head lanterns whose ears can move? Come to the lantern exhibition at the Guangdong Cultural Center and you will get to see all of these unique lanterns and more.

"Chubby Women" sculpture exhibition

An exhibition featuring 23 sculptures by Xu Hongfei, a national first-class artist in the Chinese mainland, is underway in Yangji Village, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou.

As the dean of the Guangzhou Sculpture Academy, Xu developed a style of his own with his "chubby women" series of sculptures. His artworks are famous for his bold and exaggerated style.

The exhibition is open to the public for free around the clock and will last until February 27th, 2021.

Mid-Autumn Festival lantern show

A total of 23 large lanterns and about 1,000 holiday lamps are on display at Guangzhou Culture Park, highlighting landscapes and animals in China.

Flower show, concerts and photo exhibition

Isn't it nice to enjoy a concert among the different kinds of beautiful flowers in the amazing Yuntai Garden?

Admission:10RMB per adult, half price for children and the elderly

Five-ram statue light show

With the colorful light, the ancient five-ram statue will be illuminated in a brand-new way. In addition, you can enjoy exhibitions, flowers, boating and a light show all in one place, the Yuexiu Park.

Trendy night fair

Not only can you take some beautiful photos at the fair, you will also be able to find yourself some bargains including Cantonese delicacies and cultural products.

"Fantastic Garden" fluorescent light exhibition

The exhibition is like Alice's Wonderland, featuring different kinds of large paper flowers accompanied by fancy light installations.

Piaose performances at Baomo Garden

Piaose is a Chinese traditional art form involving models dressed up as characters from historical stories or fairy tales that are held aloft on hidden poles.

Time:10:30-11:15, 15:00-15:45, October 1st-7th, 2020

Venue:Lijing Lake, Baomo Garden (宝墨园荔景湖)
