World-famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang will give a piano recital at Guangzhou Opera House on August 20th. He will perform 'J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988' only.
Lang Lang
In 1999, 17-year-old Lang Lang took the stage with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia as a last-minute replacement. After the concert, he was invited back to the stage and performed the complete Goldberg Variations by reciting the music scores. The piano prodigy walked away an international superstar and was hyped as 'the future of classical music.'
In March 2020, Lang Lang played the complete Goldberg Variations in public for the first time in Wiesbaden, Germany, hometown of his wife Gina Alice. A few days later, he performed the same works at the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig where Bach rests in peace.
Lang Lang has always wanted to record an album of the Goldberg Variations. After years of effort, his album will be released by the Universal Music Group soon. Before listening to his record, won’t it be an exciting experience to hear his live performance at the theater?
