Guangzhou adopted ten measures to better its services for inbound travellers who are currently under the 14-day quarantine in designated hotels, said Wei Min, Deputy Director of Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce, at the press conference on April 2nd.
According to the Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce, Guangzhou had 20133 people in quarantine as of April 1st, of which 15710 were under medical observation at 141 designated hotels while 4423 were quarantined at home. Among them, 2701 are nationals of other countries.
To provide a higher standard of service and reduce the stress of those in quarantine, Guangzhou launched the ‘Love Guangzhou’ activity, providing people stuck in quarantine in hotels with the following 10 things:
1.Letter of explanation
Guangzhou is now sending letters to welcome everyone who has arrived in the city. The letter also introduces the latest quarantine policies and regulations that need to be paid attention to.

2.Free medical kits
GPHL, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in China, provides every inbound traveller with a ‘medical kit’, including 10 masks, a thermometer, sanitizer, a infirmation pamphlet about the virus, and other medical supplies.
3.Books
Guangzhou provides inbound travelers with a set of books through which people can learn about the city; its history, economy, culture and sights.
4.Cantonese dimsum
The Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce has encouraged catering enterprises to offer people Cantonese set meals and impress them with the taste of traditional cuisine. Many enterprises responded enthusiastically, including the renowned Guangzhou Restaurant, who donated 10 thousand Cantonese dimsum boxes.
5.Flowers
To lighten people’s mood, the Bureau has also encouraged florists to donate flowers to quarantine venues.
6.Toys
If people are quarantined with children, the city will provide with them a set of toys.
7.Mental health services
The government is giving out pamphlets offering mental health guidance.A team of psychologists is also now on hand to provide consultation services via a special hotline.
8.Physical health services
Some portable fitness equipment is provided so that people can do some exercises in limited space.
9.Volunteer services
The city has established WeChat groups for people being quarantined and invited volunteers to join so that they can offer advice or just keep people company through chats.
10.Special area for delivery
Every designated hotel has set up a special area to provide people in quarantine with a closed loop service so that they can have food and supplies delivered by family and friends.
