Today marks the beginning of Jingzhe, or the Awakening of Insects, the third solar term of the Chinese lunar calendar, during which the spring thunderstorms will startle the hibernating insects with temperature rising and rainfall increasing.
However, for us living in Guangdong, the impact of Jingzhe seems to have started as early as Monday as there have been a run of cloudy and rainy days. The forecast says that this weather pattern will continue into the weekend, with chances of heavy rain.
According to Guangdong Meteorological Service, a cold wave will arrive in Guangdong on the evening of March 6, bringing a temperature drop of 3-5℃ and cold rain.
On March 6, there will be thunderstorms in Guangdong, accompanied by short-lived showers and near gale force winds. Remember to pack an umbrella when going out and take more clothes in the evening.
