The 2020 Guangzhou Marathon is scheduled to be held on December 13th (Sunday). Registration period for this annual event is from 3 p.m. on November 2nd to 5 p.m. on November 8th, according to the organizing committee. Runners who want to participate in the event can sign up online through the official website (http://www.guangzhou-marathon.com) or the mobile application “MalaMala” (马拉马拉).
The maximum number of entrants is 20,000 (twenty thousand), if the number is exceeded, participants will be chosen by lottery. The lottery results will be announced in early November. Except for the general entries, the Committee also provide 300 places for Public Welfare Entry and Charity Entry. The quota is available on a “first come, first serve” basis.
In order to reward loyal runners and encourage elite runners to participate in the Guangzhou Marathon, runners who meet the following requirements will be accepted directly to enter the 2020 Guangzhou Marathon:
1. Loyal Runners: Runners who have participated in any race events of Guangzhou Marathon for seven consecutive years (from 2012-2019).
2. Elite Runners: Runners who reached below qualified time in any edition of Guangzhou Marathon from 2012-2019.
Marathon: Males (including and within 3:30:00), Females (including and within 3:50:00).
This year's race only features a full marathon (42.195 kilometers). Same as last year, the race route begins at Tianhe Sports Center and finishes at Huacheng Square, which goes through Tianhe District, Haizhu District, Liwan District, and Yuexiu District.
According to the official notice, registration fee is 160RMB/ Person for Chinese and 40 USD/Person for foreigners. Participants should meet the requirements as follows:
1.Over 20 years old (born before December 31, 2000).
2.Having certificates of finishing Half Marathon or Marathon within 3 years (November 1, 2017 to October 31, 2020).
*Experience of virtual marathon will not be accepted as qualified proof.
Due to the COVID-19 prevention and control work, some new demands are applied to the 2020 Guangzhou Marathon:
1.Only accepts participants who reside in low-risk areas of mainland China (foreign residents, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents live in low-risk areas in mainland China are included).
2.All participants should provide valid and correct information and fill in health declaration truthfully for the race registration. The Organizing Committee will disqualify participants who are located in medium or high-risk areas for COVID-19.
3.All successful entrants should submit a paper copy of a valid nucleic negative test report and a signed copy of the Health and Safety Responsibility Commitment when they go to the Expo to collect bib number and race kitbag. The test should be conducted and sampled on or after December 7th , 2020.
