Guangzhou Marathon to be held as scheduled on December 13rd
Update: 2020-09-16     Source: Newsgd.com

Guangzhou will hold its annual high-level marathon event - The Guangzhou Marathon on the second Sunday of December (December 13rd) with a preliminary scheme. "Guangzhou is able to hold a marathon with 10,000 to 30,000 participants. And we are preparing for this event with an estimated capacity of 30,000 runners," said Wu Minchun, deputy director of the Administration of Sport of Guangzhou.

Due to the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19 this year, many large-scale group events have been greatly affected, especially marathons have been suspended. However, because of the improving epidemic prevention and control, now many outdoor sports have been opened with proper protection measures and social distance control measure implemented.

According to Wu, this year's event will have restrictions on the invitation of international runners, with fewer overseas participants from limited countries (or regions). And all visiting international runners will have a 14-day quarantine when arriving on the Chinese mainland.

Compared with previous sessions, more registration quota will be given for runners in Guangzhou this year, and runners from other non-high-risk areas in China are also welcome to sign up.

As for the epidemic control, all runners are required to have nucleic acid test in the week preceding the competition.
