The construction of a new railway connecting Shenzhen and Jiangmen is in full swing and scheduled to open to traffic in 2025. With a design speed of 250 km/h, the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway goes through Guangzhou, Dongguan and Zhongshan. After the Railway is put into use, it will only take 30 minutes moving between Nansha in Guangzhou and Qianhai in Shenzhen.

On December 24th, the "Shenjiang No. 1" TBM (tunnel boring machine) in Dongguan's Humen started running, speeding up the construction progress of Railway's Pearl River Delta tunnel project, the deepest cross-harbour tunnel in China.
The Shenjiang Railway has a total length of 116.12 kilometers, including 69.2 kilometers of bridges and 45.1 kilometers of tunnels, accounting for 98% of the total railway.
The tunnel section of Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway will pass through the estuary of the Pearl River, with a depth of 106 meters. It is currently the deepest and highest water pressure cross-harbour tunnel in China.
The "Shenjiang No. 1" TBM used in the tunnel excavation was manufactured by the 14th Bureau of China Railway and has complete intellectual property rights in China. It has a total length of 130 meters and a weight of 3,800 tons. The cutter head is painted with a "dancing lion", featuring the characteristics of Guangdong's regional culture.
Located in the geographic center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway is an important part of the coastal passage of China's high-speed railway network. After the railway is opened, it will be able to better support the construction of the half-hour living circle and economic circle in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
